  As another reviewer stated, the cleaner is pretty useless. The protector, however, seems to make water bead and roll off very nicely. It's been 3 months since I last applied it (2 coats) and it still repels water as if I just applied it. I'm not sure how effective it is against the sun, since that will require years to test....
  Overall, I recommend this - I would still pay the same price just for the protectant alone.

  Recently purchased a used Mini Cooper S and the top was getting saturated every time it rained- no leaks but certainly needed treating. Top was in great shape with only a few wrinkle marks/slight fading so I was anxious to see how it looked after treating. I intended to apply it to the top with a brush as mentioned in other reviews for best coverage and no overspray. After brushing about 1/3 of the top I began to be concerned that one bottle would not be enough to cover the entire convertible. Since it was fairly still out, I decided to try spraying since brushing was a very generous application method. I sprayed the remaining solution and was comfortable that it was ample coverage. Then it rained.
  The parts I brushed the liquid on were beading like crazy! The parts sprayed were improved from the original condition but nowhere near the effect of the brushed portions and I sprayed it well. I am very happy with the product but will definitely purchase another bottle to treat the whole roof with the brush on method. It's much more effective than spraying!
  My experience is possibly wholly due to the roof fabric being so thirsty BUT at least consider you might need two bottles!
  BTW the black fabric darkened up a bit around slightly faded wrinkle marks after treatment too which was great. Top looks new;)

  Application is easy if you use a paintbrush. Applied it to my Mazda Miata cloth top and water just beads right up!

  I have to preface this review by stating that I used the kit just a few days ago, so I am in no position to judge the long term effectiveness.
  
  I decided to try the 303 products after reading a lot of positive reviews here and on other sites as well as going to the company's web site. So far I have no reason to complain.
  
  I read many reviews which bemoaned the fact that 303 HTFG and other protectants were nearly impossible to use outside due to the effects of even the slightest breeze on the fine mist coming from the sprayer. I had the advantage of applying the HTFG in my garage, so that wasn't an issue for me.
  
  After cleaning the top with the cleaner and a horse hair brush, I left the top to dry thoroughly in the sun. The top looked pretty good to me, but I'm not sure whether the credit lies with the cleaner or the brush.
  
  I then moved the car into the garage and used a plastic painting drop cloth with an adhesive edge to mask off the rest of the car. I sprayed the HTFG on evenly, but rather liberally. I was a bit worried about overdoing it since during the course of correspondence with a rep from the company I had been cautioned to not over apply. For that reason I decided to forego the suggestion of another reviewer of pouring the HTFG into another container and applying it with a brush. As it turns out, it is okay to do so. The rep later emailed me and confirmed that even the president of company prefers that method for protecting the top on his own car, though not with a fully laden brush. I'm going to try this method in a couple of years or so when I need to reapply, and will tap the brush on the side of the bucket to avoid over saturating the first area that the brush hits. Anyways, once the protectant was on I moved the car back into the drive so that the HTFG could dry and cure properly. The company recommends high temperatures for this part - the hotter the better.
  
  There was enough cleaner for the top on my Audi A4 that I could use it again, but shouldn't need to as long as the protectant holds out.
  
  As I mentioned above, I haven't had this protectant on long enough to judge its performance, but I was so impressed with the responsiveness of the company rep to my emailed questions that I am giving 303 HTFG the benefit of the doubt for now. It certainly looks better than when I started.
  
  I will try to update this review in a few months if I can to give a better idea of how well the fabric guard performs. In the mean time I'm going with four stars for ease of use and outstanding customer support.
  
  UPDATE: Who knew they had an edit button?
  Well, it's been nearly two years since I started using this product and I am still very pleased. As long as you follow the instructions it works perfectly! (Clean the top, let it dry, liberally apply the product on a hot day, only rinse the top between treatments - every complaint I read here violated one of those tenets.) I had considered using a brush to apply it, but so far I have stuck to masking the windows and body with the painters' drop cloths that have the tape on the edge and just spraying.

  Used this pair to clean & waterproof/renew convertible top on a '97 BMW.
  Once dried, the top shed water as if it hated the stuff!
  It was as-if I'd used the equivalent of RainX on the fabric.
  Also, somewhat faded color was renewed (!)
  NOTE: The bottle of CLEANER is unnecessary.
  MFG or 303 Protectant -on bottle- calls for use of any 100% soap, including a solution of Ivory soap you can make for maybe 60 cents.
